[PULAU UBIN EXPERIENCE]

March 2015 - Pulau Ubin

Our first staycation as 20 :) The initial plan was to have a staycation at a chalet over in Downtown but I'm glad we changed it to a 2D1N trip to Pulau Ubin! Not your average staycation people!

During our time there, we stayed with uncle Kok at his two-story pavillion. We went hiking in the day and stayed at the pavillion by late afternoon. It was such a nice feeling being upclose with nature. Special thanks to uncle Kok for guiding us! Check out our happy faces!
By late afternoon, while the culture team (Yun Jing, Benson & Lim Yang) start preparing for dinner, the rest of the team held a short meeting at the second floor of the pavillion. It was a fruitful meeting and we managed to cover a fair share of the agenda before dinner time! Speaking of which, we are only left with 2 more months before we embark on our journey to Laos \o.o/
Dinner time!!!! Good things must be shared, and we are thankful that uncle Kok could join us for dinner! Our super zai culture team whipped up a delicious meal for everyone. We had kangkong sambal, chicken bak kut teh, 'cha ye dan' (tea eggs) and seaweed chicken. Khorp jai lai lai for the delicious food ^^

In fact, these are the dishes that we will be cooking for the locals in Laos during our Culture night! Hope they will like it as much as we did!!!! :)
It was a very meaningful staycation, allowing us to mentally prepare ourselves for our trip to Laos. Dealing with insects, toilets with no water heater, probably sleeping in sleeping bags etc. Looking around, these are the people whom we would be spending 19 days on a foreign land with very different living conditions compared to Singapore. A good stimulator indeed :')
